Growing up, I called three places home—Philadelphia, its surrounding suburbs, and Tianjin, China. Being shaped by multiple cultures and perspectives, I developed a deep appreciation for the intersections of identity, belonging, and global narratives. As the son of immigrants, I often felt like I existed between worlds, never fully belonging. My experiences navigating these in-between spaces, along with the cultural stigma surrounding mental health, queerness, and nontraditional career paths, shaped my commitment to building community, fostering understanding, and advocating for change.
As an aspiring physician-scientist, I explore behavioral health and its intersections with public health, business, life sciences research, technology, and policy. I have engaged in numerous community & research projects, always striving to connect data with real-world impact. In addition, I have spearheaded numerous policy and community-building initiatives. Right now, I’m interested in exploring the intersection between HIV, stigma, and mental health.
Beyond academia, I use photography as a medium for storytelling—not just to share my own experiences, but to document and elevate the narratives of marginalized communities. Through both visual and written storytelling, I aim to capture resilience, identity, and the complexities of the human condition.
Outside of my work, I’m an avid musician, traveler, dog lover, and (ex-)pescatarian!
